Bill Noble was born December 12, 1932 in Tahoka to Robert L. Noble and Ann Romayne (Cooper) Noble. He grew up in a loving home with three siblings. He secured his pilot license when only 15. Bill graduated Brownfield High School in 1950, attended Sul Ross University and ultimately graduated from Texas Tech in 1954 with a BS in Agricultural Engineering. While at Sul Ross, he met a beautiful young lady from Odessa, named Marilynn Tidmore. He and Marilynn married July 11, 1952.
Bill served in the US Army, in Korea from 1954 to 1956. Upon the death of his father, Bill and his brother the late Robert Noble Jr., continued the family business, Robert L. Noble Insurance, Real Estate and Farm Loans in Brownfield. Bill began a career in real estate appraisal. In 1970, he achieved the MAI Designation, earned by real estate appraisers who are experienced in the valuation and consultation of commercial, industrial, and residential properties. Bill was a well-respected appraiser in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico, having worked on many large projects such as Interstate 27. He particularly enjoyed this aspect of his career, later serving on the Governing Council of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers.
While in Brownfield, Bill served as Bi-Centennial Chairman, City Councilman, and President of the Brownfield Rotary. He and Marilynn served faithfully at First Baptist Church, Brownfield. Bill was a trustee, Sunday School teacher and deacon. In later years, Bill developed a passion for mission work; he was active in Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief Program, traveling to disaster sites including Louisiana after Katrina. Bill was active in prison ministry as well.
Bill had three great loves of his life: His Lord Jesus Christ, his girls – Marilynn and daughters Kimberly and Cynthia, and his lifelong joys – flying and hunting. When asked how he was doing, Bill’s usual expression was “best day of my life.” Displaying an urgency in his faith, he shared his love for Christ with caregivers and new friends during the last year. Bill left a powerful legacy of faith and honor. Bill was obedient to the Lord, and God was so faithful to Bill.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Marilynn; daughters, Kimberly Roberts and husband Rick of Ft. Worth, and Cynthia Funderburk and husband Mark of Lubbock; grandson Adam Funderburk, sister, Chara Beniah of Gun Barrel City and sister-in-law Madolyn Noble of Brownfield. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Robert Jr. and Donnell.
