Wanda June Williams, born on October 27, 1932, in Brady, Texas, passed away on March 30, 2024 at the age of 91. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many.
Wanda graduated from Bogata (Texas) High School in 1950 and East Texas State College in 1953. Wanda married Bobby Williams on a Friday the 13th in January of 1956 in Dallas, Texas. She and Bobby moved to Lubbock in 1968. They became members of St. Luke’s Methodist Church in 1969 and joined The Seekers Sunday school class where they met many wonderful friends.
Wanda had a heart of gold and her selflessness and compassion made a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. She was generous and had a gentle spirit. She dedicated her life to her family, always putting their needs above her own. She loved her family and friends. And…she never met a stranger.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Jewell Barnard. She is survived by her loving husband, Bobby, her children Richard (D’Lynn) and Shelli, her 2 grandsons Brody and Riley (Shelby), her great granddaughter Aspyn, her sister in law Jeannie Smock and 2 nephews Mike (Sherry) Hill and Scott (Shiela) Hill.
One of Wanda’s favorite sayings was ‘If you don’t feel close to God…guess who moved.’
Memoriam contributions can be made to St. Lukes Methodist Church in her memory. May she rest in peace now, knowing she made the world a better place.
