This is a late thank you to Hub for the times he spent bringing 1963 MHS grads together every five years. Lots of effort for a good cause and much appreciated.

This sad happening spurred many memories for me as our lives were intertwined for many years when Wayne coached his boys and competed with him. My love to your family as you deal with this emptiness and loss. So sorry I am out of town.

Gary and I have been friends with Hub and Donna for over 40 years. We have had so many fun times in baseball and playing cards every weekend for many years. Our kids grew up together and played sports together. Hub was always so proud of his boys. Wheneveryou saw him Craig was always close by. We had birthday parties together and all holidays. Hub would come up with some pretty cutegag gifts and we would laugh for weeks talking of them. He will be missed by many. Love you Donna boys and family Gary and Sue Taylor

Hub was truly a gentleman in so many ways. I will say that there was not a better man that served the youth of West Texas for so many years. We will miss you Hub!

My sincere condolences to Hub's family. It was my great honor and privilege to umpire baseball with Hub for many years here in the Lubbock area. I learned a lot from Hub, as a person and as an official. I'll always be grateful for the friendship we shared.

It makes me mad and sad that Hub is gone, so I guess I also am selfish. But, how could I not be when I will never again be with my best friend of almost 60 years.I miss him now and will miss him terribly in the time to come.Dancy's and my thoughts are with Donna, Robby, Dale and their families and especially Craig in this difficult time.
Brian left a message on November 27, 2019:
I was one of those “boys” that was fortunate enough to be around Hub on the baseball field or just around Lubbock. We do a charity golf tournament each year, so that we can give back to yes, best school in town CHS. Yes me and his boys caught a lot of mess about this since Hub was a Plainsman. I would run into Hub after me and about 5 of us started this golf tournament and he would always say, “how cool he thought it was” that we did this and got to keep in touch with a lot of our classmates, as he loved his classmates and tried to stay in touch with them. The last thing I’ll remember about Mr. Crowell is at this years golf tournament. He knew I had open heart surgery a few months prior to the gathering. Most of the time I saw Hub he would harass me about something, all in good fun! But, this conversation was different. He told me m, “Brian I will KICK YOUR BUTT, if you do not take care of yourself. You know what, I will take care of myself, because Hub warned me! I listen to what Hub says, always have and will always. My deepest condolences go out to Donna, Robbie, (my good friend) Dale and Craig. I know he is not having to suffer any longer. Until we meet again! R.I.P Hub Crowell!

Having known Hub for most of my life through church and school I am sadden beyond belief The last few years we have met with other MHS63 guys on a weekly basis I came to know more of him at these times I am glad to know he is in a better place but since I’m a very selfish person his passing brings up my anger. I will miss him terribly. My love to Donna and his sons May Gods peace comfort you all. Casey

Hub umpires my games in HS. So, I’ve known him for 25 years. I gained more and more respect for him over time. Anytime I go back home and was fortunate to run into him somewhere, it was always a highlight of my day. Rest In Peace My Friend

Hub was one of my early school friends and remained a good friend until the day he left us. Always admired his calm cool demeanor. Don’t recall him ever showing a temper. He was always a big part of anything having to do with our Monterey High Class of 1963. Along with so many classmates I will miss seeing him. Yes...... Hub was one of the good guys. Comforting knowing he is with his Lord Jesus Christ.
Wanda Cobb left a message on November 27, 2019:
Donna, I am deeply saddened to learn we lost one of the good guys. I have so many fond memories of Hub and Cecil Turquette spending time at our house (usually around meal time) when Neil & I first married. I remember one specific time, we decided we'd make potato donuts using Neil's mother's recipe. We had no idea just how many donuts that one recipe could make. Donuts were in pans sitting on every flat surface in our kitchen, dining room and den! Of course, it didn't take long for those boys to reduce the count. I also remember the time that you all spent with us in Houston. Oh what great sweet memories. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Hub will definitely be missed. Praying God will cover you with His grace, His mercy and His peace.

Blessed to have known Hub threw our son in law Stephen Overstreet. I always enjoyed my visits when he would show up to support one of the teams Stephen was coaching. He was quite a guy...always kind and fun to be around."Good game Blue!"
