We invite you to view the live-streamed service on this page, sign her virtual guestbook, and download her memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing.Vana Marie Raines was born on March 22, 1937, in Lubbock, Texas to WC “Bill” and Ruth Snider. She died on November 19, 2021, after an unexpected illness. She was raised in Lubbock, Texas where she attended and graduated from New Deal High School. Vana was a member of the band, prom queen, and was a proud player on the New Deal High School Basketball team where she was a part of the 1953 Texas State Championship Team.Not long thereafter she met Jack Raines who she would marry, and they would have 5 children: Greg, Jackie, Kirk, Jill, and Scott. This kept her very busy for the next several years as she was an active member of PTA and attended school activities along with sporting events for the children.As her children got older, she would begin her career as a receptionist for Boss Irrigation. She loved the opportunity to be able to meet new people and visit with those that she had already built a relationship. She ended her career retiring from Fleming Foods after working there for over ten years. After being retired for a few years Vana returned to work with a part-time position at H & R Block for about seven years.Vana enjoyed following her favorite sports teams and attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. She was able to travel to see grandchildren graduate high school, college, get married, and even was able to watch one of her great-grandchildren graduate high school as well. To many, she was known as Meme.Survivors include her children: Greg Raines, Jackie (Cruz) Garcia, Kirk (Cathy) Raines, Jill McBride (Tommy Clodfelter), Scott (Debi) Raines. Her grandchildren Lauren (Danny) Pennington, Erica (Derek) Jefferson, Jordan Jones, Casey (Morgan) Garcia, Audry (John) McCarthy, Kristen (Nick) DiPasquale, Steven Raines, Helen Raines, Shad Teeter, Shaun Teeter, Kaylee (Jimmy) Underwood, Zach (Danielle) Raines, Krystal Raines, Storm Raines, Misty (Larry) Sauceda, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.Vana was preceded in death by parents, WC “Bill” and Ruth Snider, sister Dana Allen, and brother Don Snider.Vana attended Milwaukee Avenue Church of Christ in Lubbock, Texas until she gave up her driving license a little over 3 years ago.Some of the happiest times of her life were spent watching sports at a live event or on television, she loved to play bridge or dominoes with friends and family. She enjoyed activities with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Vana was a hardworking woman who touched the lives of many people. Vana will be missed dearly.2 Corinthians 5:8 “Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.”
