The family of Susan Rockey will celebrate her life of 64 years at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. We invite you to view the live-streamed service and sign her virtual guestbook on this page.On Monday, June 20th, 2022, Susan Rockey, devoted mother of two and grandmother of three, passed away at her home at the age of 64.Susan was born in Lubbock, TX to Sylvester Vincent Rockey and Maudie Flourine (Benton) Rockey on August 17, 1957. She worked for over 25 years in medical administration. She started at Methodist in QA, and in 1998 she joined Consultants in Infectious Diseases. She was a devoted employee at CID, and she continued working there through the time they were acquired by Covenant. Her retirement began in 2019, only when she was no longer able to work. She cared deeply for patients and made many lifelong friends during her tenure.Susan loved animals, gardening, and all things nature. She had a green thumb and took pride in nurturing her plants. Her home was never without at least one pet, often dogs that she’d rescued and loved like family. Giraffes were her favorite animal, and she spent many hours watching zoo live streams, where she grew attached to animals that she never even met. She was deeply invested in their lives and donated to rescue efforts. She collected Elvis memorabilia, which lined the halls of her home. She will forever be remembered for her tender heart, sweet smile, strength, faith, and selflessness.Susan was preceded in death by her father, Sylvester and her mother, Maudie, and her brothers, Dennis and Eric Rockey. She is survived by her two daughters, Erica Denise Gould and Rockie LaDell Nolan, her three Grandsons, Orion, Toren, and Major Gould, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins, her friends she loved like sisters, and many of her daughters’ friends that she loved as her own children.
