Ella Sue Cowdrey Luft met her Heavenly Father on July 10, 2021, after a 15 month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was diagnosed in April 2020 and fought until the moment of her passing to defeat it. She was born in Post, Texas on October 12, 1955, to her parents Robert and Jennie Cowdrey, and the firstborn of five children.She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Gary Allan Luft, and sons, along with their wives and Susu’s five grandchildren with one more coming in October. Garrett Paul Luft, her oldest child, wife Kristin, and three children Annie, Hudson, and Hayden Luft. Her youngest son Chase Evan Luft, wife Carli, and two children with one on the way Maevyn, Elisyn, and Grandbaby #6. Her parents Robert and Jennie Cowdrey, as well as her four siblings Amy Easterling, Lisa Bartley, Curt Cowdrey, and Clay Cowdrey, and their children.Sue was the best Susu (Grandmother) out there. She was a devoted and intentional grandmother to her five, soon-to-be six grandchildren and instilled in them many Godly things they will carry with them forever. Susu and Pops moved to several places in the US in their 42 years of marriage. She was an Accountant, a hard worker that made a large impact at all the jobs she had. Sue was a joy to be around and someone that was always looking out for others, trying to do everything she could do to teach them about Jesus and bring joy to their lives. Teen Challenge of the Permian Basin was a big part of her life and she made many relationships and brought people to Jesus in her work there. Sue will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all that knew her.Her funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 13 at Monterey Church of Christ in Lubbock, Texas with close friends and family officiating.
