Sharon Kay Garry finished her wondrous journey on this earth and was welcomed by her Lord to begin a new eternal life on Sunday, August 28th, 2016. Sharon was born in McAllen, Texas to W.A. and Claydene Stroud on April 25th, 1944. Sharon was a strong-willed, devoted wife and mother with a beautiful smile and clever wit. Sharon leaves behind her cherished partner and loving husband of 54 years, Jerry Garry. She is preceded in death by her parents W.A. and Claydene Stroud of Smyer, Texas. Sharon’s proudest accomplishments were her four children. Renea Garry McWhorter, who passed in March of this year and was reunited with her mother on Sunday, was Sharon’s first born. After raising her four kids, Sharon began a career with the USDA Cotton Classing Office of Lubbock, where she was a line supervisor for 20 years.Sharon’s life and legacy are celebrated by her husband, Jerry, and surviving children Genea Garry, mother of Johnnathan fiancé to Whitney Mansell; Michelle Garry mother of Ivy; Jay Garry husband of Dawn and father of two sons Gunner and Jagger; and her remaining grandkids and great grandkids who filled Sharon’s home for Sunday dinners: Lainie McWhorter Davis, mother of Hunter, Haley, and TJ; Leigh Ann McWhorter; Bethany McKee, mother of Kynleigh and fiancé of Alex Webster; Corbin McKee father of Payson and fiancé of Kelsey Bigham.Among the hundreds of friends and family members who are left to mourn her loss include, aunt Helen Kizer and husband Roy and uncle Bob Stroud and wife Noreen who all fondly referred to Sharon by the nickname given to her by her father, “Peewee”; lifelong friends, Frances and Don Edwards; Rudy and Minnie Garcia; Isaias Rosales, and Jonnah Miranda.
