Leslie Sharmai Ham, age 58, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. She was born on July 22, 1965, in Lubbock, Texas to Mickey and Pat Ham.
Sharmai was a woman deeply marked by joy! Her positive outlook, strong spirit, and love for life radiated to all around her. She loved to laugh and could often be found laughing to the point of tears, while surrounded by family and friends. Her big heart loved deeply and fiercely. She was passionate about her faith, and frequently spoke of the beauty of Jesus’ redemption and plan for our lives. God undoubtedly blessed Sharmai with the gift of encouragement and the heart of a servant, both of which were gifts she poured out to the world around her. Besides her love for people, she also shared a love for plants. Her green thumb was unrivaled, and she could turn any yard into a tropical oasis. In the last several years, Sharmai got the joy of working side by side as part of a real estate team with her mother, Pat, whom she loved very much. It wasn’t just the two of them though. They were frequently joined by the newest member of the family, her little dog Sophie, who followed her everywhere she went.
Sharmai is preceded in death by her father, Mickey V. Ham. She is survived by her mother, Pat Ham; sons, Kade Calhoun and Kolby Calhoun; sister, Michaela Hendley, and her husband, Jeff; a niece, Halston Coleman, and her husband Ryan; a nephew, Chase Hendley, his wife Brianna, and their three daughters, Harper, Ellison, and Norah; multiple cousins, including Sharon Lee, who was like a sister; and her childhood friends, Donna Bilbrey and Karen Hunt. Even then, no list could hold all the names of those whose lives she touched during her time on earth.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Lake Ridge Chapel from 6:00-8:00 p.m. We will gather for a celebration of Sharmai’s life on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Lake Ridge Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Her family asks that instead of opting for traditional black, please wear colorful clothes in honor of her vibrant and colorful life.
