A service to celebrate the life of Shannon Edward Means, 56 years of life, is scheduled at 10am on August 26, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Ropesville. He died on the 18th of August surrounded by family after a 2 ½ year long battle with cancer.
Shannon Edward Means was born August 5, 1967, to Sammy and Freda McNabb Means in Lubbock, TX. He graduated from Ropes High School in 1985 and began a career in farming while working at the Ropes Co-op gin. He married Angela Ward on August 20, 1988, at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, TX. They resided on a homestead in Hockley County for 35 years together. They had two daughters Chelsey and Morgan, who Shannon took so much pride and joy into raising by coaching their little league basketball, baseball and soccer teams and enjoying many outdoor activities together including camping, snow skiing and many water sports. He finished his Associate’s Degree in Ag Business from South Plains in May 2004 on the Dean’s List. He later worked for Shearer’s Food as an Assistant Maintenance Manager. His hobbies included spending quality time with his wife on any beach or patio listening to classic rock.
Shannon is survived by wife, Angela Means; children, Chelsey (John) Belcher, Morgan (Jon) Harrison; grandchildren, Hallie Belcher, Jon Barrett Harrison; parents, Sammy Means, Freda Montgomery; siblings, Beau Means, Kim Angerer.
