The family of Sarah Weaver said their final farewell to their mother and devoted wife, as her ministring angel ushered her to Jesus with love.
Sarah was born January 5, 1940, in Dallas, Texas, and adopted by Sam and Edith Allred along with her biological sister Lauretta. Sarah grew up in Ennis, Texas, and graduated from Ennis High School and Texas Tech University. It was at Texas Tech that she met the love of her life and marriage partner of sixty-three years, Gib Weaver. Together they built a life in Lubbock raising their three children, all of whom graduated from Texas Tech.
Sarah taught World History and American History for twenty-five years in Lubbock ISD and Greenville ISD, TX. Sarah was a strong woman of faith and was active in her church, with PEO and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was one of the founders and directors of Christian Women’s Job Corp in Lubbock. She also served as a leader in Community Bible Study. She volunteered for many years at the Crisis Pregnancy Center, Hospice of Lubbock, and Exodus Prison Ministries of Lubbock. Sarah believed that her faith in Jesus Christ plus nothing else resulted in her salvation. She and her husband used the mathematical equation of JC+0=S.
Sarah loved Texas Tech University, attending as many football, basketball, and baseball games as possible. She supported all her children’s athletic and social endeavors. She did it all! From making sandwiches for the team, keeping score, or cheering from the sidelines. She actively supported her sons in Phi Delta Theta and her daughter Katy, and her granddaughter Ellie in Pi Beta Phi and Alex in Alpha Phi at Texas Tech. She was a mentor to her six grandchildren and was blessed to meet two great-grandchildren.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents and sister.
