With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we gather to celebrate the remarkable life of Samuel L. Wright Sr., a loving father, devoted brother, and a man whose accomplishments were as bright as his infectious smile.
Samuel was born on September 2, 1956, in Springfield, Massachusetts. His educational path was marked by dedication and achievement. He attended Springfield Technical High school, where he honed his skills and graduated in 1974. Always driven to expand his knowledge, he later enrolled at Kilgore College, where he earned his associate degree in auto mechanics in 1983. His passion for learning continued throughout his life, becoming the foundation for his successful career.
Answering the call to serve his country, Samuel joined the Air Force on September 12, 1974, and served with honor until June 24, 1977. His time in the Air Force instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life.
On May 7th, 1977, Samuel married the love of his life, Ineyes Johnson, and together they embarked on a beautiful journey that lasted 33 years. Their union was blessed with three children who were the pride and joy of Samuel’s life. Their first son, Samuel L. Wright Jr., was born on November 23rd, 1979. Their daughter arrived on May 26, 1988, and their youngest son, Zuriel X. Wright, was born on April 24th, 1997. Samuel’s love and devotion for his family knew no bounds, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Samuel’s professional journey was one of dedication and expertise. After his honorable service in the Air Force, he worked at Stroh’s Brewery in Longview, Texas, from 1980 to 1994 before transitioning to work as a cable technician in Lubbock, Texas. He first joined Cox Cable, which later became Suddenlink, where he excelled in providing exceptional service to countless households. Later, he found his calling at Double T Cable, where he dedicated 16 years of his career before retiring in 2022. His commitment to his work and his ability to connect with people left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the community he served.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Samuel had a zest for life that was truly infectious. He was an avid Billiards player, earning numerous awards over the years, a testament to his skill and competitive spirit. Samuel also found joy in bowling, watching wrestling matches, and cheering on his beloved Cowboys during their games. His collection of classic model cars, with a particular fondness for Trans Ams and Firebirds, showcased his appreciation for timeless beauty.
Samuel’s greatest source of pride and love was his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, survived by Ineyes Johnson, his eldest son, Samuel L. Wright Jr., his daughter Ineyes O. Wright II, and his youngest son, Zuriel X. Wright. He was a pillar of support for his brothers Kenny Wright, Earl Wright and his sister Renee Britt, always there with a helping hand and a listening ear. Samuel’s furry companion, Kuma, brought him immense joy and companionship throughout the years.
As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, let us remember Samuel L. Wright Sr. for his lighthearted spirit, unwavering determination, and the countless lives he touched.
