Obituary

The family of Ruby “Sis” Clingman will celebrate her life of 87 years at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Her family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. She passed on Friday, September 10, 2021. On December 15, 1933, Ruby Juel was born to William and Nannie Garvin in Sudan, TX.  The family later moved to Seminole.  After graduating, Ruby moved to Lubbock where she attended business school.   She married C.L. Clingman in Lubbock.  She was known as ‘Sis’ to her nine siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.  C.L. and Ruby owned and operated an arts and  crafts business in Lubbock for many years and established relationships with many members of the local community.  She enjoyed tole painting, quilting and the fellowship of the painters and crafters she met.  In later years, she enjoyed being ‘Nana’ to her seven grandchildren and attending the various church, school, and sporting events they participated in.

Survivors include her husband, C.L. Clingman; their sons and families. Bryan (Jingdong) Clingman; grandchildren Emma Li, Evan Clingman and Bruce (Melinda) Clingman; grandchildren Lauren Clingman, Braden Clingman, Landon Clingman, Catherine Clingman, Lillian Clingman; and a brother, Billy John (Carolyn) Garvin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, W.C. Garvin; Orbie Dean Garvin, Bobby Don Garvin, Clyde Garvin; Alvia Garvin, Leroy Garvin, and Pete Garvin; and a sister, Ruthie Boehers.

Memorials

The family of Ruby Clingman has designated the Indiana Ave. Baptist Church, 9507 Indiana Ave, Lubbock, TX 79423, for memorial contributions donated in her memory.
