Rosetta Nusser Martin, 93, was called to her eternal rest by our Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 11, 2022, following a brief illness with lung cancer. She was born July 18, 1929, to Martin G. and Melusine (Trimpe) Nusser, Sr., on a farm near Copeland, Kansas, in Haskell County.
Rosetta was the third of nine children to Martin and Melusine. She attended Prairie Lawn Grade School for eight years. She then attended and graduated from Garden City High School in 1947. On June 11, 1950, she married William H. Martin in Garden City. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Jennifer Leigh and Rebecca Ann. They raised their girls in Ft. Stockton, Texas, then retired in San Angelo, Texas. Then, in 1998, they moved to Lubbock, Texas.

She was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church, where she was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Ft. Stockton, Trinity Lutheran, San Angelo, and Redeemer Lutheran, Lubbock. Rosetta was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, started the Elderberry’s Club at Trinity Lutheran, and had a Prayer Time at Redeemer Lutheran. She helped with Vacation Bible School at all three Lutheran Churches. She was the organist for Faith Lutheran. She crocheted and hand-embroidered baptismal cloths and crosses for baptisms and confirmations. Rosetta had an eye for decorating her home (especially with antiques) and enjoyed helping her daughters with theirs, drawing blueprints and making additions to their home, landscaping her yards, and shopping, especially at Mardels, Walmart, and Steinmart. She had various collections such as birdhouses, chickens, and any drawings her grandchildren and great-grandson gave her. Rosetta enjoyed spending time with her two daughters, five grandchildren, and a great-grandson.

Her daughters, Jennifer and Rebecca, and their families want to thank Pastor Rohde for his faithful visits for over two years to her. She always looked forward to his visits. We also want to thank Michelle Craig, the owner of the Library of Legacies in Slaton, for the amazing place we called home for two years. Thank you for the excellent care, the fun family dinners at “Perks,” Mother’s Day Tea parties, planting our Spring plants, all the holiday and birthday parties, and more. Mary Jane, Margaret, April, Carmen, Brook, Kayla, Yesenia, Annie, Maggie, and Christine will always be a part of our family. You all made our Mom’s home fun, and all of you loved her.
