Roger was born to Robert Escobedo Jr. and Edith Sally Elias on August 26, 1992, in Lubbock, Texas. He emerged into the world with a spirit destined for greatness. Roger’s journey was marked by milestones that spoke volumes of his character and passions. After graduating from Coronado High School in 2013, Roger excelled academically and blossomed in art, his dedicated form of expression. Inspired by emotion and depth, his sketches mirrored his soul’s innermost stirrings, earning him accolades and admiration.
Driven by a sense of duty and honor, Roger answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the US Navy on August 15, 2013, in Amarillo, Texas, and later earned the title of Corpsman. While stationed in Portsmouth, Virginia, Newport, Rhode Island, and while deployed on humanitarian missions, Roger embraced the challenges of military life with unwavering resolve, embodying the values of courage and sacrifice.
Transitioning into civilian life, Roger found fulfillment as an inventory manager at Wyse Logistics Inc., where his meticulous attention to detail and dedication shone brightly. Yet, it was in the realm of creativity that he found his true solace. A passionate sketch artist, Roger’s drawings, particularly within Anime, transported viewers into spheres of imagination and wonder.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Roger reveled in the simple joys of life. He cherished family gatherings and often brought friends to dine with his loved ones. A lover of reading, travel, baking, and gardening, he found beauty in every corner of the world, nurturing both blooms and bonds wherever he went. His passion for exploring new worlds, ideas, and perspectives was fulfilled through the pages of books. Roger found inspiration in the written word across several genres and topics. As a member of TEGA in his youth and a martial arts fan, he trained under the late Sang Kim. He found joy in gymnastics and the martial arts, a testament to his zest for exploration and discovery.
Roger was more than a son, a brother, and an uncle; he was a beacon of light, guiding those around him with his kindness and compassion in the embrace of his loving family, parents Sally (Craig) Elias and Robert (Belinda) Escobedo; siblings Juan (Becky) Rivera, Olivia Escobedo, Robert Anthony Escobedo, Candela Escobedo, Benicio Escobedo, Brooke (Ray) Lozoya, Lillian Elias; and his six nieces and eight nephews.
As he embarks on his final journey, Roger is reunited with those who preceded him in death, including his paternal grandparents, Ramona, and Robert Escobedo Sr., and his maternal grandfather, Jimmy Dale Davis, Sr. Though he may have left this earthly realm, his spirit, laughter, and love will forever echo in the hearts of all blessed to know him. In Roger’s honor, let us cherish our shared memories, celebrate his life, and carry forth his legacy of love, creativity, and boundless generosity. Rest in peace, dear Roger; your light will shine bright in our hearts forever.
