Rogelio B. Flores, born in Mathis, Texas on June 28, 1953, to Ramon Flores and Graviela Briseno, embarked on a new chapter in his life when he moved to New Home after marrying the love of his life, Mary Hernandez. His two children held a special place in his heart, and he was their unwavering hero. Roy’s devotion knew no bounds; he encouraged them to always strive for their best and celebrated their achievements with pride. As “Pawpaw,” he cheered on his grandkids, rain or shine, supporting their every endeavor. Beyond family, Roy had a passion for the Dallas Cowboys and cherished the great outdoors. Whether tending to his roosters and goats or crafting birdhouses, benches, and slingshots, he found solace in woodworking. A selfless soul, he was just a phone call away whenever anyone needed assistance. Ramon Ayala’s music accompanied him on drives down south or during quiet Friday evenings spent cruising back roads or sitting on his porch. Rogelio was not only a best friend to many but also a beacon of kindness and compassion.
Throughout his life, Rogelio was known for his unconditional commitment to his family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Mary Flores; son, Rogelio H. Flores, Jr. and wife Roni, and daughter, Danielle Davis, and husband Justin, as well as his grandchildren, Keeton Champion, K’Lee Flores, Jacob Davis, and Aaron Davis; great-grandchild, Kai James Champion; and sister, Adeliada Arguijo and husband Ubaldo.
Rogelio was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon Flores and Graviela Briseno; and his brothers, Claudio Veliz, Erasmo Amaya, and Fidel Flores.
A man of simplicity and integrity, Rogelio’s legacy will be celebrated during the upcoming funeral services. The Rosary will be prayed at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 7:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 2:00 pm. Graveside Service at the Garden of Memories in Menard, Texas, will be on Monday, April 29, 2024, at 1:00 pm.
As friends and family gather to pay their respects, let us remember Rogelio as a dedicated husband, father, and member of the New Home community who touched the lives of many. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
