Rodney Wayne Duke was born May 2, 1959, to Alton and Elizabeth (Stroup) Duke in Altus, OK. He married Leslie Mosier on June 29, 1985 at the Municipal Garden & Arts Rose Garden in Lubbock, Texas. Rod and Les enjoyed many wonderful experiences during their 37 years of marriage living in Lubbock.
Rod started school in Fairborn Ohio and went through the 6th grade after which the family moved to Germany. He attended 7th and 8th grade in Germany then the family moved to North Carolina. He graduated from Selma High School in Smithfield, North Carolina in 1977. The family then moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he attended Kirkwood Junior College and finished an associate course in office management. He subsequently attended welding school which he enjoyed very much. He worked at Amana in Iowa until he moved to Texas.
Rodney worked for Bailey Boiler Works in Lubbock, Texas starting as a welder and worked his way up to QC Manager. He retired in 2024 with 33 years of service. His coworkers meant a lot to him, and he had many great memories. Rod was steadfast and loyal to his family and friends, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. His kind, quiet, and calm demeanor will be remembered forever by those who loved him.
Rodney is survived by siblings, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law, Jerry (Kathy) Duke, Alan (Linda) Whitebread, Sharon (Terry) Duke, Danny (Janice) Mosier, Douglas (Patricia) Mosier; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Leslie Duke; parents, Alton and Elizabeth Duke; sibling, Terry Duke.
He died on Saturday, February 8, 2025.
