Ricky P. Mantooth was born on April 13, 1937, to the late Odell and Tressie (Pope) Mantooth in McLean, TX. He graduated from McLean High School and West Texas State University with a Master of Education degree. On January 23, 1957, he married Sammye Norman. Ricky was a retired coach, teacher and administrator for public education in West Texas. He was a member of the Texas Coaches Association and an avid golfer.Ricky is survived by his loving wife, Sammye; son, Ricky Norman Mantooth and wife, Danna of San Angelo; daughters, Julie Moreland of Lubbock; Jill Hughes and husband, Stan of Seminole; grandchildren Elizabeth, Jennifer, Corey, Eric, Kelsey, Kallie, Katie, and Kale; thirteen great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lynn Reeves, and Beth Stribling and husband, Gil.

What a man! So sorry for the loss. As a coach and teacher, I have very fond memories of Ricky. He taught and coached with a smile and interest in each student. He had a significant level of influence on many young people. Blessings to the family.

To all the family, my heart and prayers go out to you. I knew Rick when most of the girls in McLean and Shamrock had a crush on him, then in college, the big football hero, then thru golf courses in Canyon and Seminole. He was just Rick, the great man if God that he was. He lived a great life and had a great influence on so many. I was privileged to call him friend all those years

So sorry to hear of his passing. My dad, Rex Immel talked of him often and their playing days in McLean. Bet they will both have a lot to talk about now in heaven. Our prayers go out to the family and friends.

So very sorry for your loss. He remains among my favorite teachers.The Seminole Independent School District was blessed to have him but his students benefited the most. To the Mantooth family, May the good Lord wrap you in his arms and hold you up until you feel able to stand on your own again. GODSPEED Mr. Mantooth. You will be missed.

Mrs. Mantooth, Julie,Rick and Jill: We were so sorry to hear about Mr. Mantooth (Rick) can not call him Rick to this day. He will al ways be Mr. Mantooth to us. Our hearts are breaking for all of you! Mrs. Mantooth you both were and are so special to us! We have so many memories from my our years at New Home high school and after. He will be so missed! We can not make it to the service today and that is also heartbreaking for us both as we would truly love to be there in person just know we are there in spirit and our thoughts and prayers go out to each and every one of you today and the days to follow! Sammye, Rick, Jill, Julie and all the grand children/ great grandchildren . Ricky Mantooth is not only my friend but a mentor to me. I enjoyed the years we worked together at Sands High School.
