The family of Ressa Hamilton will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, September 06, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A celebration of her life of 43 years will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel. She passed on Saturday, August 27, 2022. On November 11, 1978, Ressa Elizabeth Ewalt was born in Lubbock, TX. Her mother was Barbara Elaine (Holder) Ewalt, and her father is Robert Ewalt. She married Stephen Hamilton on August 14, 2004, in Lubbock.

Ressa was a graduate of Monterey High School in 1997. She then went on to pursue her undergraduate studies in Mass Communications at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX. Among one of Ressa’s proudest accomplishments was serving in the office of the United States Congressman Larry Combest in 1999 in Washington, DC. She then returned home and continued her studies at Texas Tech University.

Ressa was also a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lubbock and frequently volunteered her time coordinating special events at the church. She loved serving the community there and kindled many friendships.

Ressa was a proud homemaker who enjoyed every moment of her time with the loves of her life, her children, Jaxon and Raygen, and her husband, Stephen. She loved spoiling her family frequently with their favorite treats, especially her homemade banana bread. Ressa was a fantastic baker and enjoyed perfecting her craft. Ressa was also a legendary hostess. Her heart for entertaining and her acute attention to detail made whomever she opened her home to feel welcomed, special, and loved. Ressa will be dearly remembered and missed by anyone fortunate enough to have crossed her path.

Survivors include her husband, Stephen Hamilton; their children, Jaxon Hamilton and Raygen Hamilton; father, Robert “Bob” Ewalt; siblings, Mark (Judy) Ewalt, Katherine (Nathan) Ewalt-Camenfort, Karen (Rusty) White, Kent Ewalt, and Chuck (Kim) Ewalt; and nieces, Rachel Poole, Erin Ewalt, and Payton Ewalt and Joahana, Kia and Echo Camenfort.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Elaine Ewalt.

I grew up with Ressa from Jr. high thru High School and she was best friends with my brother during this time. I am saddened to hear of her passing, as she was far too young to be with the lord. We aren't always ready when the lord calls our loved ones up, but rest assured he had a need for Ressa, and he will have a need for all of us one day. Till then fly high Ressa.

Oh sweet family what a joy Ressa was! She has always been a fireball!!!! I’m sooo thankful my Kristie has had her as a dear friend and partner in crime. They have shared lots of life together. As a mom it’s hard to see your child grieving for her bestie, but I’m so thankful for the relationship they shared. All of you are in my prayers and I truly mean I’m here for you 🥰 much love Thresa

Ressa was one of a kind. We had lots of great memories from working at the bank to play dates with our toddlers. She loved you so much Stephen. Thank you for loving her. Stephen,Jaxon and Raygen I wanted to thank you for sharing your mom and wife with our family. Ressa always made us feel like we were part of the family. I remember the first time I met her it was at Jaxon room party we had just moved here from California I was super nervous to meet all these new people and Ressa made me feel like I had been there the whole time, our sons became the best of friends and I can still remember talking about it with you on the phone how happy we were that they stayed friends. Ressa thank you for being such an amazing person and friend am so very glad that God put you and your family in our life. Until we meet again friend.

Ressa was the most AMAZING Sister-in-law that anyone could ask for. Although we can all come up with hundreds of reasons, I am going to focus on two reasons today of why Ressa was an Angel on Earth. First, no one had a bigger heart than Ressa. She was always concerned for the needs of her family, and even mine, before her own. When Ressa would say, "my love language is giving," she was right. She gave her heart and sole into making sure everyone around her was happy and provided for. Even though I always lived hundreds of miles away, every time we saw Ressa she made us feel like we just lived across the street and we were all one big, happy family. And, second, Ressa was a true Angel on Earth for living with my brother. Having that unique opportunity both growing up and for his first year of law school, I know how hard Ressa had to work to keep Steve operating at even the basic human level. :) Ressa always kept a very clean house and kept everyone in the house on schedule and on-time. Now that Ressa has been called home early, I have no doubt she'll continue to look over Steve, Jaxon, and Raygen to make sure everything works out for them from now until they join her.

I am so very sorry to hear about your mom. When I saw her, she always had a smile on her face. She raised some pretty amazing kids.

I was only in your home once when Ressa gave a baby shower for our granddaughter Morgan Moore. The shower was wonderful and I immediately felt so comfortable and so welcome in your home. She was a classy lady. God now has a great event planner in Heaven! There are no words to express how sorry we are that such a treasure was taken from your family way too soon. May God wrap all of you in His Loving Arms!

I knew Ressa only through my daughter in law , Morgan. She was so very generous and kind to her and helped her as she prepared to get ready to welcome Murphy. Even though I know she had known Morgan a lot longer, the short time I got to know her, she showed so much love to our family. Our prayers are with you during this time. We moved to “town” and didn’t know we had picked the best neighbors. We have a funny story on how we met but we were very welcomed by Ressa and Stephen. Invitations to parties and the condo were plentiful and always a good time. We will miss Ressa greatly and plan on continuing to make more memories with the Hamilton’s. Much love to you all.

Jaxon, Raygen, there are not enough words to express how deeply your mom loves you. You were her whole life and as long as I have known Ressa the only thing she ever wanted to be was your mom. She was proud of both of you. The way you love each other and the type of people you are turning out to be made her feel like she was helping to make the best decisions for you (even in the times you might not understand that) She knew there would be times when you make mistakes. She never expected you to be perfect. She loves you exactly the way you are and for who you are. Please never ever forget that. All she ever wanted for you both is to be healthy, happy and able to stand on your own two feet someday. Stephen, you were a God send to Ressa. She repeatedly said should wouldn’t want this life without you. You made her happy. You gave her all she ever wanted- a family. I hope as you look at all the life you lived together you know she lived her best years with you and the kids. I know Ressa would want you to continue to be “inside the fire” cause she knew that’s where true life is lived. And she wouldn’t have it any other way. Send Love and prayers for all of you Kimberly
