The family of Raymond Duane “Ferg” Ferguson will celebrate his life of 86 years at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. His family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, December 07, 2020, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Seating is limited to 65 seats, face coverings are mandatory, and the staff will enforce social distancing in compliance with state regulations. These precautions are to ensure that the family and our community are safe. Raymond Duane Ferguson, 86, also known as “Ferg” of Ropesville, TX, died December 4, 2020. The service will be live-streamed on this page, where you are encouraged to sign the virtual guestbook and share memories and expressions of sympathy.On March 3, 1934, Raymond was born to Alfred and Jewel (Bullin) Ferguson in Quitaque, TX. On February 26, 1955, he married Bonnie Wilson Ferguson and lived in Ropesville, TX, from 1963 till his death. “Ferg” and his wife dated five years and were happily married for 65 years. He was a member of Levelland Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was baptized at the age of twelve.Duane was a master of many trades. He was a farmer, custom harvester, auctioneer, worked at Ropes Cotton Gin, worked at Center Gin. “Ferg” was a heavy equipment operator and a maintenance supervisor for Hockley County until he retired in 2000. He had many hobbies such as hunting, fishing, creating projects, meat butcher, and raising various animals on the farm.Through these many experiences in his life, his legacy of work and play has passed down three generations which continue still today.Duane, known as “Ferg,” was also referred to as Honey, Daddy, Grandad, and Grangrat. He was a loving devoted husband who referred to his wife as his little bride. He was a strong man of faith, and he held his family close to his heart. The highlight of his day was when he saw his children, grandchildren, and or great-grandchildren walk through his door. Duane’s humor was his trademark. His laughter and personality were contagious, and that legacy continues through the stories that are still told today. Although he will be missed, his memory will remain.Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Ferguson; their children, Randall (LaWana) Ferguson, Tami (Jerry) Jeffcoat, Tonya (Curtis) Thrash; grandchildren, Raymond (Shauna) Ferguson, Johnathen (Michelle) Ferguson, ReBeka (Matt) Patterson, Shiranda (Rusty) Pence, Joshua (Laura) Jeffcoat, Blake (Kristen) Thrash, Zane (Danielle) Thrash, Paige (Brennen) Johnson; 16 great-grandchildren, and sister, Patricia Ann Berry of Abilene, TX.Ferg was preceded in death by his father, Alfred W Ferguson; his mother, Jewel Ferguson; and sisters, Laquita Nan Ferguson and Juanice Ferguson.
