Donna and family, I am so sorry to hear of Randy's death. Randy was a great fellow school superintendent and one I could always depend on to bring calmness and wisdom at statewide meetings. A loss for you and the family, but clearly Heaven's gain!

I am so sorry hear about beloved Coach Fowler! He is a great man and a great mentor! I met him as a kid at ENMU! My father was the baseball coach, and I was a bat boy for the Greyhounds! Coach Fowler treated me as part of the team, played catch with me, and the man had an infectious smile! We met up again at Portales High, as I played both basketball, and baseball, which he so graciously coached! He continued to be an incredible mentor! I played baseball for five years with Coach Fowler! Coach Hampton drove one van, and poor coach fowler was usually stuck with me in the other! On a trip home from a sweep of Artesia in baseball, he let me in charge of the AM radio! He smiled and shook his head quit often!! He let me be the DJ again on a victorious trip back from winning the Santa Fe basketball tournament! I ran into the men again at a Spring Training baseball game in Arizona, about 10 years ago! Coach Fowler, and Coach Hampton let me sit with them for a few innings! I was in heaven to sit, talk, and enjoy baseball with my heroes! I loved him like a father! He molded me into a good and successful person! I think of him and thank him daily! Elmo!

Randy was the best boss I ever had. He taught me so much…. How to be humble, look for the best and don’t be quick to criticize. He tried to teach me patience but I had a hard time with that. He showed the rewards of love and dedication to family and friends. I loved watching him live and walk the Christian life. He was wise in his decisions. He showed grace in hard times. He was the best friend and supporter. I’m thankful God put him and his family in my life. I’ll forever miss him. My love and prayers are with Donna, Christie, Chelsie, Judy, and Butch and all the family. ❤️
