Phyllis Elizabeth French, 63, passed away on Aug. 19, 2018, in Lubbock, Texas.
Born into an Army family at Fort Benning, GA, Phyllis moved often throughout her childhood but the Bay Area was home. She graduated from San Marin High School in 1971. She attended San Diego State University where she met Robert French and they married in 1975.
Phyllis graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio with a BA in Early Childhood Education in 1991. She was a teacher in the Northside Independent School District for more than 20 years and was named Teacher of the Year at Steubing Elementary in 2004-2005.
Phyllis is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Katie McDonald of Dallas, and Emily and Trent Murphree of Lubbock, and five grandchildren; Maddie, Caroline and Brendan McDonald; and Ella and Cole Murphree. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Tom Crowell of Gilbert, AZ. She is preceded in death by her parents, Col. William M. and Frances Cole, and her beloved husband of 40 years, Robert French.
A memorial service will be held at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home on Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. 111 Rosewood Ave. Boerne, Texas 78006
