A Celebration of Life Service for Phanmaly “Pam” Nguyen will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers at 6025 82^nd Street, Lubbock, TX. The family will welcome visitors immediately following at their home.

Pam passed away surrounded by family on the morning of Friday, January 6, 2023, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Phanmaly was born on February 20, 1976, in Bangkok, Thailand. Her family immigrated to the United States and settled in Amarillo, Texas. She graduated from Palo Duro High School, where she was also a part of the International Youth Department at First Baptist Church of Amarillo. Pam graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Advertising and Technical Writing in 2002 and began a career as a writer with the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.

Phanmaly and Houston “Buddy” Nguyen were high school sweethearts and married on May 22, 2004, before settling in Lubbock to start their family. Their first child, Noble, was born on September 23, 2007, followed by a daughter, Ava, on March 30, 2015.

As a homeroom mom, volunteer, project leader, board member, co-chair, and friend, Pam gave her time, energy, creativity, and spirit to everything she touched. A devoted wife and mother, Pam dedicated her life to improving the experience of everyone around her, particularly for family and those she embraced as part of her ever-expanding chosen family.

Phanmaly’s vitality, strength, compassion, and natural ability to make everything memorable are going to be deeply missed.

Survivors include her husband, Buddy; their son and daughter, Noble and Ava; parents, Jim and Manivanh Meuangkhot; grandmother, Khampeng Lienlouangrath; sister and her partner, Kristen Meuangkhot and Leon Molina, and their daughter, KaiLaylee; brother and his partner, Scott Meuangkhot and Amanda Juarez, and their children, Ian and Abygael; sister-in-law, Trang Tran, and her sons, Ryan and Shaun Tran; brother-in-law and his wife, Son and Douangmala Le, and their children, Dalena and Justin Le; niece, Makenna Madsourivong; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

My heart is broken for your great loss. Pam would come & visit with me in the Smith Library when she would be there to pick up Noble. Ava was a little bitty cutie at that time. Pam was such a sweet lady and was always there to help out in anyway. At Christmas she always brought me, & others at Smith, the best cake, ever! Buddy, Noble, Ava, & family may you feel God's presence, peace & comfort as you navigate life without Pam. She loved greatly and leaves us with cherished memories to hold until we see her again. ❤️🙏🤗

Pam was an amazing lady, she was always taking care of everyone.even at her lowest she asked if you needed anything. Beautiful inside and out. Pam your life with us will be greatly missed, but we know you are no longer in pain. Love you

I am shocked to hear of Pam's passing. Her and I were friends during our time at Tech, and she was always so kind and funny, and always was there to offer a kind word. My condolences to Buddy and her family, she will be deeply missed.

Pam was such a kind, caring, and vibrant woman. She was so involved in the community and her family's activities. We all enjoyed getting to know her while they volunteered at Lubbock Meals on Wheels. She was always so positive and hopeful throughout her illness. She brought a light to everything she did and will be missed by all of us lucky enough to know her. Our deepest condolences to her dear family and friends. Wishing you all peace and comfort during this difficult time.
