Patty (Patricia) Ellan Bradley Cruickshank passed away on the first day of May 2024 in Houston, Texas after a sudden illness. Patty was the third daughter born to Betty and James Bradley on January 19, 1953, in Wichita Falls.
At the age of 13 Patty won the Lubbock AJ National Spelling Bee and went to Washington DC for the finals where she went out 12th from the winner. After graduating from Monterey High School in 1971, Patty left Lubbock and entered Austin College in Sherman, Texas. She received a degree in Education and graduated in 1975, She was fluent in Spanish and taught English as a second language in the Houston schools. After receiving her master’s in education in Houston her family moved to California. Patty later became the Principal in the Pescadero School District in California. She lived many years in Half Moon Bay, California and was living in Palm Desert, California at the time of her death.
Patty was raised in the Baptist church and has joined her parents Betty and James Bradley in heaven. Patty will be greatly missed by those who survive her. She is survived by her son, Brad Able (Inga), and daughters Lisa Able Polumbus and Michelle(Trish) Able Caldwell (Kellan) all of Houston. Patty leaves behind 7 precious grandchildren that called her Grammie Pie. They are Bella Able, Parker, Pierce and Presley Polumbus and Kinsey, Emery and Corley Caldwell.
She is also survived by her husband Roger of Palm Desert, 3 sisters, Sylvia Bradley Healey (Bill), Linda Bradley Middleton, and Karen Bradley Martin (Larry) all of Lubbock. Along with many nieces and nephews and a lot of friends both in Texas and California.
