The family of Patricia “Mimi” Camp will celebrate her beautiful life of 79 years at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, 26, 2022, at the Chapel at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers in Lubbock, Texas. The burial service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 30th at Waukomis Cemetery in Waukomis, OK. With the strength of a tiger, she passed peacefully on to eternal life on Thursday, July 21, 2022, and is now pain-free within the heavenly gates.
Pat was born to Albert and Ruby Carter in Jonesboro, AR on February 23, 1943. In 2nd grade, they moved to Waukomis, OK. It was during this year she met little Johnny Camp, who happened to be the only child in the whole 2nd grade she did not want to invite to her 8th birthday party…but of course, her mother insisted. Little did she know this little boy would soon grow to be her best friend, protector, father of her children, dance partner, and love of her life.
This inseparable pair began their love story dating through high school, then attended Phillips University and married on April 13, 1963. A more dedicated couple would be hard to find. They each became the other’s right hand taking care of every need. There’s hardly a dance floor that didn’t experience the graceful moves of these two. Pat’s full-time job became making a warm and loving home for her husband and three boys. She was a mother like no other and put her whole heart into her family and made a celebration out of every special moment.
Pat’s greatest expression of love was through her kitchen. Birthdays, holidays, celebrations, special dinners. If she loved you, she cooked for you. If you needed help, she would be there, with a coffee cake on the side. She was never happier than when feeding a full table of family or friends (which would, of course, be decorated beautifully). The only joy that could even come close would be her sitting at a slot machine on a hot streak.
Pat’s abundant zest for life was contagious. Her desire to make every moment fun brought light to others and touched many lives. Spontaneous. Ornery. Fun-loving. Patricia, Patty, Pat, Peanut Patty, Mom, Mimi will be greatly and sorely missed, well-loved, and always remembered.
Survivors include her husband, John Camp III; sons, Darrin (Julia) Camp, and Matthew (Kristine) Camp; daughter-in-law, Yoon Jung Lee; and grandchildren, John Happy Camp, Madison Camp, Kate Camp, Claire Camp, Patrick Camp, Britney Snyder and Vaughn Camp.
Pat was preceded in death by her son, John Gregory Camp, and her parents, Albert and Ruby Carter.
We invite you to view the live-streamed service if unable to attend and to sign her virtual guestbook here on this page.
