On December 23, 2023, Patricia Lou Bearden (Pat) ran into our Savior’s arms, healthy and whole after passing away peacefully after a brief illness in Lubbock, Texas. Pat was born on March 31, 1941. She was 82.
Pat was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Virginia Ginter. She was raised by a single mother. Pat met the love of her life, Dwight Bearden, and they settled in Lovington, New Mexico, and were married 52 years. They owned and operated P&D Petroleum. She and her husband, Dwight, worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their kids and grandkids. She always provided support and love for her family. Pat was a “giver” and she loved blessing others with her cooking and always prepared a feast. She believed feeding others was loving on them.
After Pat retired from the business and from bowling, she found a new hobby and loved making quilts. She loved seeing the scraps come together to create a work of art that she could in turn give to others. At one time, Pat had 3 cedar chests full of quilts and donated the quilts to those in need or to ones she barely met. During this past stay at the hospital, three compassionate nurses were on the receiving end of her generosity. Giving to others made her happy.
Pat is survived by her husband, Dwight, and their three children: Karen Dunn, Donna Jones (Marty), and Brian Bearden (Amanda); seven grandchildren: Megan Haynes (Allen), Ashley Jameson (Caden), Macey Lane (Danny), Caden Jones (Amber), Braden, Colby, & Daniel Bearden; 11 great-grandchildren: Bralyn & Tandyn Haynes, Bennett, Brantley, Bowen, Lily, Briggston Jameson, Sutton & Bootsie Lane, and Luke and Ellie Jones.
