Myron Delano Hargrove, 82, of Lubbock, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, March 10, 2023.
Family and friends will gather to remember the life of Myron D. Hargrove, on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Raider Ranch, 6548 43rd Street, Lubbock in the Live Well Room.
Myron was born October 29, 1940, to Jesse and Bertha (Ausley) Hargrove in Athens, AL. He graduated from Athens High School in Athens, AL and Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, TX. He married Virginia “Ginny” Land on January 22, 1970.
Myron was an accomplished athlete in his younger years excelling in football, basketball, and swimming. He spent most of his professional career working in finance and happily retired from American Airlines so he could spend more time with family and traveling the world with Ginny.
Myron was an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Lions Club of Lubbock, and The South Plains Honor Flight. He was known for his gentle spirit, kind heart, infectious smile, and quick wit. He loved spending time with family, watching college football and doting on his grandchildren. But most of all, he was still madly in love with his high-school sweetheart, Ginny.
Myron is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginny” Hargrove; daughters, Jennifer Hauer and Joanna (Griff) Thomas; 6 grandchildren, Lauren Noble, Kyle Hauer, Stacie Pair, Stephanie Aguilar, Ryan Thomas, and Matthew Thomas; 4 great-grandchildren, Naomi Balmaseda, Zoey Balmaseda, Aubrey Pair, and Christian Jardine; brother, Marlin Hargrove; and a brother-in-law, Charles Land.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Bertha Hargrove; and a daughter, Julia Powell.
