The family of Mildred Weatherman will celebrate her life of 77 years at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. She went to be with Jesus on Sunday, December 20, 2020. The service will be live-streamed here on this page, where you are encouraged to sign the virtual guestbook and share memories and expressions of sympathy.On August 7, 1943, Mildred Olive Weatherman was born to Orten Lee Robertson and Helen May Clower in Elida, New Mexico.Mildred or “Mickie”, as she was affectionately known by her family, grew up near Portales, NM, and graduated from Portales High School. After high school, she became a candy striper at the local hospital. This led her to pursue a career in nursing through a course offered by the Catholic Church. It was during this time that she formed a deep relationship with Christ that carried her throughout her life. She attended nursing school in Albuquerque, NM.Mildred worked for GTE/Verizon for more than 25 years. She was a long-time resident of Brownfield from 1969 to 1989. She enjoyed volunteering at her church. Mildred was dedicated to her children and every day before they left for school, they would spend time together reading the Bible. A genuinely loving mother, she always put her children before anything else in her life.She retired in Denton, Texas, and loved reading books especially western novels written by Elmer Kelton. John Denver was her favorite musician and she enjoyed watching the Sound of Music.Survivors include her siblings, Natessia Greenfield of Powderly, Texas; Betty Frazier of Tatum, New Mexico; and Kenneth Robertson; children, Helen (Patrick) Roberts of Searcy, Arkansas; Brian Weathermen and fiancé Rachelle Marker, of Lubbock; grandchildren, Jarod Clark Roberts, Jacob Weatherman.She was preceded in death by her parents, Orten Lee Robertson and Helen May Clower; and granddaughter, Lindsay Megan Roberts.Memorial contributions are suggested to the Association of Texas Small School Bands, 2117 Morse St. Houston, Texas, 77019, or contacting atssb@att.net in her memory.
