Mildred Shavor was born March 2, 1923, in Coleman, Oklahoma to Claude Harrison and Bertie Lee (Millican) Matney. They moved to Cottle County, Texas in 1926. Mildred graduated from Valley View High School in 1939, then married her sweetheart, Willard Shavor in 1940. Mildred was a woman of remarkable strength and determination. She and Willard farmed and ranched and raised their two sons in Cottle County. Willard passed away in January 2009 on their 69th wedding anniversary. They were members of the First Baptist Church, Paducah since 1969.
Mildred loved family gatherings. She kept a neat home and a pretty yard. She was an avid reader and a longtime caregiver after being a bookkeeper for over twenty years in the cotton industry.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and brothers, Claudie A. Matney and Vernon M. Matney.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her surviving family members including her sons, Sidney A. Shavor of Lubbock and Kenneth M. Shavor of Meridian Ville, Alabama; five grandchildren, Gregg A. Shavor, Shauna Washburn, Stacy Peek, Virginia Perry and Cynthia Payne; and ten great-grandchildren.

Mildred went home to be with her heavenly father on December 4, 2023, at the age of 100.
