Ode to Mary Lou by Jeanie Sparks Mary Lou was my second mom. I loved to call her “Little Pink Mama” being that I was her 4ths daughter best friend. I spent a lot of time at her house. As if feeding 5 daughters weren’t enough I ate more meals around her table than I can ever count! Her cuisine was utterly delicious. My favorites were her cheesy salad, popcorn balls and tea aid to wash it all down. Besides being a fine chef, she was the ultimate seamstress! She made Lyn’s 9th grade graduation just by seeing it on the cover of 17 magazine! It was gorgeous! She wouldn’t let me be left out so she made me one too! I never felt more special than when I wore that lacy green dress. Little Pink mama also sewed my cheer uniform, patriotic striped shift dress, and 2 costumes for the musical “Oklahoma” that I was in. The costumes were so professional and everyone was green with envy. Besides all the fun I had with her she taught me many life lessons. I also loved Christmas caroling and swim parties making flowers. She taught my Sunday night youth group for many years. I never remember her being absent from teaching. Most importantly, she showed me the precious love of God and to keep Christ 1st in your life. Mary Lou has always been a blessing in my life and I will truly miss her until I see her again. She loved to sing “Little Brown Church in the Vale.” Now she’s singing with the angels in glory around the throne of God.

My sweet granny. Was so sweet, kind, loving, fun, adventurous, caring and so much more. Great example of how to treat others. I love her so much. I miss her already. But I know she is at peace now. Rest gently my sweet pink granny 💔
