Martha Stephenson was born on September 18, 1945, to the late Vernon and Edna (Weed) Jacobs in Big Spring, TX. She graduated from Las Cruces High School and received an Associate’s degree in Art from New Mexico State Jr. College. She lived in California for twelve years before moving to Lubbock. Martha retired from AT&T, where she worked as a Sales Representative. Following her retirement she worked for Covenant Medical Group as a Billing Specialist. On March 8, 2014, she married Maurice Stephenson in Lubbock. Martha was a member of the Square Dance Association, the Levi’s and Lace, and Hub City Wheelers Square Dance Clubs. She was an active member of Monterey Church of Christ, and was always involved with a Bible study group. She also enjoyed sewing and traveling.Survivors include her husband, Maurice Stephenson; three children, Anne Michael Vaughn and husband Ralph, Richard Williamson, and Heather Moore and husband Dale all of Lubbock; six grandchildren, Cory Wilson, Jacob Wilson and wife Yanely, Lacy Wilson, Keely Durham and husband Tyler, Reece Moore, and Chace Moore; and two great-grandchildren, Braxton Gray and Emmah Wilson; a brother, Vernon Earl Jacobs and wife Bonnie of Phoenix, AZ; four step-children, Crystal Stephenson, Don Prefontaine, Glenn Prefontaine, and Nancy North; and five step-grandchildren.
