Martha, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 2, 2024, in Shallowater, Texas, at the age of 76. She was born on December 9, 1947.
Martha was a woman of strength, resilience, and determination. Beyond her professional achievements, Martha’s true legacy lies in the love and devotion she brought to her family. She was a dedicated and loving mother to her three children, Yvette Rodriguez, Laura Merino-Barrionuevo, and David Merino, her two granddaughters Danielle Bailey Merino Villa, and Alyssa Christeen Mendoza, and a great-grandson Sebastian “Bash” Amarante Mendoza, and various grand-pets. Martha is also survived by two sisters, Gloria Acosta and Araceli “Ghuera” Acosta, as well as two brothers Mario Acosta and Abel Acosta, all four of California, and several cousins from Arlington, Texas. Martha is now with her mother Maria de los Angeles Rodarte, and her husband of over 50 years Rigo Merino-Ortiz.
Her unwavering support and guidance will forever be cherished by her family. Martha’s presence and love will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Through her strength and faith, Martha was the embodiment of selflessness and a pillar of hospitality, with food that could bring everyone together. She was as endearing as she was quick-witted, often filling a room with laughter behind her all too warm smile.
We will have a Church service at 1pm on the 17th of February, at St Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Shallowater, TX 79363
