Mark Wayne Lee passed away at the age of 63. Mark was born to Dellas and Mary Lee on November 7, 1960, in Surrey, B.C., Canada. He lived in Lubbock since 1975.

He was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Coronado High School, and from Texas Tech with a Fine Arts Degree. He was a gifted potter.

He married Robin Denise Brown on July 11, 1981. They were blessed with three beautiful children—their daughter Alexandra, and sons Nathaniel and William. They enjoyed traveling, hiking, and camping together. Robin passed away in 2011, which had a big impact on Mark’s life. Mark was left to raise the children.

Mark loved to travel, hunt and fish. He restored Volkswagens.

He loved people and everyone loved Mark. He loved plants and worked as a nurseryman most of his life. He built and operated Slide Plant Market and was a great gardener.

Mark is survived by his children—daughter Alexandra Lee, and his sons Nathaniel and William Lee; his parents Dellas and Mary Lee; his brothers Timothy (Pauline); Randal (Lisa); Benjamin (Hope); sister Anna Johnson; nephews Aiden Johnson; James Lee; Jacob Lee; and nieces Calla Johnson; Samantha Lee and Jasmine Padilla Carrol Lee.

Mark was preceded in death by his dear wife Robin, and his brother Howard.

Mark was a happy spirit. He had a very gentle, loving heart and will be so missed by his family and his many friends and his beloved yorkies— “Plum” and “Bet” and Pug, “Mourd.”

I would like to say to Marks friends and family that I’m sorry that I could not be at his celebration but I think that a ok with him. Mark was a very dear friend to me that helped me through a time that I didn’t have many people that I trusted and always brought a smile to my face we will all miss him. He taught me a lot about about the plant industry but more he taught me how to understand myself I think he had that gift with with a lot of people. Mark you will always be the mayor of slide Texas tight lines my friend.

My condolences to the whole family. I have many great memories of Mark. He was a huge part of my teen years. I'm so sorry for all y'all's loss.

I have just learned of Mark's passing, and am profoundly saddened. He and I first met in 1979 and instantly became inseparable. I count Mark as one of my two only true lifelong friends. We spent countless hours together and some of the fondest memories of my life involved Mark. Although we did not see each other much after I moved to Tennessee, we stayed in touch and always remained close. There will now be a huge void inside me and it will be there until God calls me home. I love you, my brother...
