Mark Conley Brumley was born October 31, 1952, to Rayburn and Alvilda Stewart Brumley in Commerce, TX.
He was born the youngest of six children. His mom, Alvida, was a homemaker and his dad was a true Cowboy. Mark lived in Commerce, Texas as a small boy and later in Plains, Texas. When he left home, he moved to Greenville, Texas where he tore up the streets racing anyone and everyone that would race. Mark loved cars -race cars. He started out drag racing his rag top Camaro. Later, he and his buddy built a ’56 yellow Chevrolet but later in life he raced his purple truck, Barney – complements of his son, Mark.
In early life, Mark work as an excellent auto body repairman like his brother Darrell; however, the job he loved the most was operating and driving down the road in his 18-wheeler. He shared his love of driving a rig with his two brothers, Charles and Don. He could back up and park his truck on a dime and if you didn’t believe it – he would tell you—but it was true.
Mark’s greatest love later in life was time with his grandkids. Whether it was getting watermelons so the kids could have a watermelon seed spitting contest or work on the go cart so they could drive it around. Mark loved to garden from the sidelines with Monica – you know, tell her how to do it or not do it! He made sure Melissa was independent and knew how to change the oil and brakes on her car.
He taught his grandkids how to drive a tractor and gave advice on how to work the land in New Boston; but one of Mark’s favorite fun times was spending time with his son, Mark, and going to car shows. In the end, Trina showed such kindness and loving care for him in his final days. He told us countless times he had the greatest daughter-in-law in the world and told the nurses several times they weren’t doing it right and they needed to ask Trina.
Mark is survived by his children, Mark (Trina) Brumley Jr., Monica Brumley, and Melissa Brumley; grandchildren – Cambrie Brumley, Pyper Brumley, Keagan Brumley, Kyleigh Brumley, Haden Brumley, Sarah Brumley, Colton Brumley, Ryder Brumley, and Rylie Brumley.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother; three brothers, Charles, Don, and Darrell; and two sisters, Lavern and Jane.
He died on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
