Marilynn Noble was born December 4, 1932, in Ralls, Texas to her adoring parents Randell and Trecy Tidmore. She grew up in Odessa surrounded by an extended family. Marilynn graduated Odessa High School and went on to Sul Ross College where she met her one-and-only, the love of her life, Bill Noble of Brownfield.
Marilynn and Bill married on July 11, 1952. While Bill served in the US Army in Korea from 1954 to 1956, Marilynn kept the home fires burning. Marilynn loved beautiful things – among her most treasured possessions is a strand of pearls Bill sent her while on leave overseas. They settled in Brownfield and spent most of their life there, raising their precious girls, Kimberly and Cynthia.
Marilynn and Bill were active at First Baptist Brownfield and Lubbock; She also enjoyed the local garden club for many years. Beyond a homemaker, gracious hostess and wonderful cook, Marilynn was a truly exceptional seamstress and artist. She made Christmas ornaments, a hand painted nativity, needlework, and of most significance, beautiful clothes, especially dresses for her girls. Marilynn had an eye for style, and she showed her love through her steady and skilled hands.
Proverbs 31: 24-28
She makes linen garments and sells them and supplies the merchants with sashes.
She is clothed with strength and dignity; She can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed.
In later years, she and Bill became active in mission work, traveling through the state and then to a favorite place of theirs, South Africa, with the Experiencing God ministry of Henry Blackaby. Marilynn worked with children and developed a deep love for this precious ministry.
Marilynn is survived by daughters Kimberly Roberts and husband Rick of Fort Worth and Cynthia Funderburk and husband Mark of Lubbock, grandson Adam Funderburk of Frisco, brother David Tidmore and Brett Wisner of Allen. Marilynn was preceded in death by her parents and her one-only, Bill. A special thanks in warm friendship to long term friend David De Kiewit of Cape Town; extraordinary physician Floyd Pirtle MD, and all the many friends and care teams at UMC 4 East and The Legacy at South Plains.
Memorial donations may be made to the UMC Cancer Center c/o UMC Foundation or the charity of your choice.
Marilynn Noble passed peacefully into the arms of her loving savior, Jesus Christ on November 6th.
