Marilyn Bell Gipson, a devoted wife, mother, teacher, and librarian, peacefully passed away on June 13, 2024. Born on May 20, 1947, in Nacogdoches, TX. Marilyn married Vance Gipson on January 24, 1969. Marilyn dedicated her life to enriching young minds as an educator. She held a Bachelor of Science degree from East Texas State University and taught middle school mathematics while also serving as a librarian for 28 years, primarily in Borger and Odessa.
Beyond her life of education, Marilyn was a member of LakeRidge Methodist Church, the LakeRidge Women’s Organization and the Lubbock South Plains Lions, where she dutifully served as secretary for many years. Marilyn found joy in giving back to her community and fostering connections with those around her.
Marilyn shared her love for travel with her beloved husband, Vance, as they ventured to countless countries, creating cherished memories together. She was a source of strength and support for her children, Karen (Chad) Caddel and Blake (Amy) Gipson, her granddaughters, Ashlyn and Andie Caddel, and Lucy and Molly Gipson, which she treasured; her brothers, Mervil and Melvis Bell; sisters-in-law, Faye (Pat) Frasier and Betty (Roy) Pledger; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins which she loved greatly.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Lucille Bell; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Bell and Terrie Bell.
A Celebration of Life for Marilyn Bell Gipson will begin with visitation at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers on June 17, 2024, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. Services will be held in the Chapel of LakeRidge Methodist Church on June 18, 2024, at 10:00 am. Followed by burial in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Marilyn Gipson’s legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for her family and community will be forever remembered. She will be deeply missed by her loved ones, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
