Manuel R. Castro, Jr., was born on October 29, 1967, in Deming, NM. Growing up in New Mexico fueled his love for camping in the mountains and a good fishing spot. His love for the Lord ignited in his early teens and propelled him into full time ministry as a young adult. He fell in love with his wife and together they served in ministry their entire 31 years of marriage.

Along the way, they built a beautiful family that included amazing children, sweet daughter-in-laws, and precious grandchildren who know him as “Peepaw.” They also fostered 23 children who all knew Manny as “Papa.” Manny has been loved well and will be greatly missed by his family and his two best friends, Gary and Bill.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Ramirez; his brother Eric; his son, Angel Manuel, and his two grandsons, Lael and Elijah. Manny is survived by his wife Patti; his son Michael Anthony, wife Amy, and their children Amelia and William; his son Gabriel Ethan, wife Natalie, and their children Benaiah, Gideon, and Esther; and his baby girl Micaela Sharae Maria.

He is also survived by his father Manuel Castro, Sr.; siblings Richard, Jesse, Carol, Lisa, and Joseph; Aunt Josie, Uncle Leonard, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held at First Assembly of God Church on Friday, March 15, 2024. Visitation will begin at 9:30am with the funeral service following at 11:00am.

Manny’s favorite color was blue and his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. Dress accordingly.

Manny, you were a great friend and kind and compassionate to anyone you met. Thank you for your friendship and your dedication to the Lord. We met early in our college years and you left an impression in my life that I will never forget. My prayers are with you all Castro family.

Patti, we are so sorry to hear about Manny. I am so glad I met him at SAGU and how we became great friends. I will always cherish the times we got to play ball together and our talk's. He will always be a great friend . Praying for y’all. You have our number so please call if we can do anything

My condolences to the family. One of the things that impressed me about Manny was not just his relationship with the Lord, but his relationship with his family. His love for his wife and his children was so apparent. His legacy will live on through them.

Really enjoyed our breakfast & chats when y’all lived in El Paso. Our prayers & most sincere condolences are with the family.

I first met Manny and Patti at Baptist Children's Home in Waxahachie TX. They were our relief parents l. We became fast friends. We celebrated Manny's seminary graduation with them. Shared in some caregiver traumas. We have stayed connected all these years. Manny and I have had a connection around humor. When I think of Manny I see the twinkle in his eyes and the smirk on his face. My heart is broken for Patti and the kids and grandkids. You all were his world. We don't fully understand why the failing of our earthly bodies gives way to our heavenly home and leaves such a hole in the hearts of those we love most. Patti, and kids... Manny would want you to laugh,love everyone well and live your best life! We will see him again in his glorified body. We are praying for all of you!

I met Manny in 2011 at Haliburton. Manny always had a glow about him. I found out that glow was because he was a man of God. It was pretty rough the first year at Haliburton but Manny seemed to navigate those waters unscathed. I would always tell Manny to pray for me because a “Manny prayer” packs a different punch than the rest of our prayers. I’m sorry for your loss. I pray for his family.
