Elizabeth G Haley left a message on February 8, 2023:
In 1988-89, the Regents asked me to serve as President for the Interim for Texas Tech University and the TTU Health Sciences Center. Dr. Mittemeyer served as the Dean and Vice President of the TTU Health Sciences Center. He was an awesome leader. He was extremely thoughtful and helpful to me as I prepared to represent both institutions as Interim President in presenting the TTU and TTUHSC budget requests to the Texas Legislature. He helped me learn as much as I could about the HSC, and he coached me on how to present their needs and requests for increased funds to enhance our educational, research, service and outreach missions. Thanks to his awesome coaching, and the help from TTU and our governmental relations administrators, we were successful in securing increased funding for TTU and TTUHSC. Dr. Mittemeyer was a gentleman who was extremely passionate about moving TTUHSC's reputation forward as a significant health center not only in West Texas but also state wide. I am grateful that I had a chance to work with him closely, and my admiration for him will exist forever. He will always be an example for all of us who were honored to know and to work with him. Thanks Dr. Mittemeyer! You made a difference in the development of Texas Tech and in the lives of everyone who knew you. Bess Haley
