The family of Louan Flynt will celebrate her life of 75 years at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 25, 2022, at the Southcrest Baptist Church followed by a graveside service at 3:30 PM in the Mt. Louan passed on Sunday, April 17, 2022.We invite you to view the live-streamed service on this page and sign her virtual guestbook.Louan (Cox) Flynt was born to the late Louie and Mary Ella (Herndon) Cox in Abilene, TX on October 27, 1946, and was raised in Anson, Texas. She graduated from Anson High School in 1965 and was married to Grady Jack Flynt on August 20th, 1966 at First Baptist Church in Anson, Texas. Louan graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1969.Jack and Louan lived in Abilene and Louan taught 3rd grade in Abilene Independent School District for 28 years. She retired in 2002 after health issues challenged her endurance and the ability to stand and walk. She was an excellent teacher, loving each child as her own, and making individual impacts with specific attention and instruction. She loved her kids.In 2005, Jack and Louan moved to Lubbock, Texas to be closer to their grandkids and Louan’s doctors. Louan enjoyed watching various sporting events, especially if her grandkids were playing and she missed very few. Louan was a faithful woman, full of the Lord’s grace. She always wore a smile, even in the midst of difficult challenges. She loved others well because she was committed to knowing people well. Her joy was contagious and a testament to her love of God. Louan passed on Easter Sunday surrounded by her family.Survivors include her husband, Jack Flynt; their daughters, Susan Dyer and Sherry Gilbert; son-in-law, Kerry Gilbert; and grandchildren, Kade Gilbert and Koryn Gilbert; and other family and friends.
