Leslie was born in 1946 in Houston, Texas. She attended Reagan High School and was proud to be a member of the Red Coat Drum and Bugle Corp. She had a brief marriage to Thomas M. Kelley and they share one son, Michael. Leslie met her husband Gordon in 1969 while working at The Coastal Corporation. They instantly fell in love and were married for 54 years. Together, they share two daughters, Erin and Amy, and one son, William.
As a mother she was generous, loving, and kind. She served as leader for her daughters’ Girl Scout Troop and scorekeeper during little league games but was known to panic just a bit every time one of her children came to her with a serious injury, which seemed to be frequent and happened only when she was in the shower. She was also thrilled to be a grandmother to six boys and secretly extra excited when her only granddaughter was born.
Leslie is famous for baking New York style cheesecake and carrot cake and loved to read and travel. She collected small samples of soil, sand and other treasures from each of her trips and displayed them in a beautiful case made by her daughter Erin. You could see the excitement in her eyes as she would share those memories with others. A favorite trip was to Scotland and Ireland with her mother, attempting to trace their roots. She had a terrific sense of humor and was always ready to celebrate family milestones and successes. Much to her children’s laughter and cringing, she loved to dance whenever and wherever possible. By her example, she taught them how to have fun.
Leslie is preceded by her father Leslie, mother Loyce, and brother Raymond. She is survived by her husband, Gordon, her sisters, Katy (Kasparik) Stoll and Mary Francis (Kasparik) Evans, her children – daughter Erin Selvera and spouse Donovan, daughter Amy Ramirez and spouse Victor, son William Morris and spouse Sharon, son Michael Kelley and spouse Tracy, and her grandchildren – Wyatt (E), Victor Jr. (A), Ryan (A), Alexander (W), Everly (W), John Alden (W), and Dustin (M), as well as many nieces and nephews and their children.
Leslie will be remembered as a gentle, thoughtful, and patient mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed.
