Leola Brunson Lindsey, 80, of Lubbock passed from this life with peace and grace with family by her side on Sunday, February 19, 2017. She was the youngest child of L.M. and Lola (Dawdy) Brunson born September 6, 1936 in Lubbock County. She attended Idalou Schools. On June 15th, 1953, she married Bill F. Lindsey in Idalou, Texas. This marriage was blessed with two children – Larry and Laura.
Leola worked as City Secretary for Idalou and then as a bookkeeper for RV dealerships. Later in life, Bill and Leola opened a new, small business and watched it thrive. Upon their retirement, they fulfilled a lifelong dream of traveling the country in a RV. One of their favorite destinations was the Rio Grande Valley in the winter. Their journeys continued until health issues prevented them. Bill and Leola moved into Venture Place community in May 2011, where they have lived happily ever since. Leola’s health struggles came to an end this past Sunday.
Leola leaves a legacy of love and faith with her family: husband of 63 years Bill of Lubbock; son Larry and wife Susan; daughter Laura (Lindsey) Rose and husband Lloyd, all of Lubbock. She was Nannie to her beloved grandchildren: Lisa Rose Scott and husband Darrell; Luke Rose, all of Lubbock; Amanda Lindsey of Ft. Worth; Ashley Lindsey of Lubbock; and 4 great-grandchildren. Siblings: Paul Brunson, Ruth Joplin, Edith Armstrong, all of Lubbock.
She also leaves behind a wealth of loved ones in both the Brunson and Lindsey families who cherished their time with her and will miss her dearly. She always told us she was “Standing on the Promises,” and now we know she is standing on streets on gold.
