Lennie LaVerne Medlock

Lennie LaVerne Medlock was born to Roy and Willie (Tally) McBride on June 15, 1927 in the Kopperl Community of Bosque County, Texas.  She passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 in Lubbock, Texas at the age of 91. 

Lennie married Winferd Elwood Medlock, Sr. on November 5, 1944.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Henry and Willie Dane McBride; husband, Winferd Elwood Medlock, Sr., son, Winferd Elwood Medlock, Jr., brother, Harvey McBride and sister, Dorothy Martin.

Lennie is survived by her grandchildren, Winferd “Trey” Elwood III & wife, Chris, Angela Medlock & husband, Ron Sawall and Brian Medlock & wife, April; great-grandchildren, Winferd “Winn” Elwood Medlock IV, Kelsey Newman & husband, Dan, Bailey Brown & husband, Brady; great-great granddaughter, Rebekah Newman; siblings, Deana Overly, Fern Vitale & husband, Mike and Allen McBride & wife, Shirley; daughter-in-law, Kaye Medlock;  Trey and Angela’s mother, Kay Young and numerous nieces, nephews, additional relatives and dear friends.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  Lennie was involved in the family business, Medlock Southwest Management and was also an active member of the Texas PTA.  Her faith was of utmost importance in her life and she had been a member of Redbud Baptist Church for many years.

We are humbled by the care and compassion shown to us by Wilshire Place Senior Living, Synergy Home Health and Accolade Hospice, “Our family wishes to thank you for your kindness and support.  Our grandmothers’ passing was one of love and peace.  We thank you for making this last memory of her one of dignity and grace.”

We will gather for fellowship and remembrance from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will celebrate her life of 91 years on Monday, August 6, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Redbud Baptist Church.
