Laurie Butler

Laurie Angela Butler, 63, passed from this world on Monday, October 2, 2017. Laurie was born in Houston, Texas, to Florence and Vernon Butler. In pursuit of higher education she attended Mississippi State College for Women, Texas Tech University, and Drake University Law School. She was married prior to entering the Navy and serving in South Korea and at Pearl Harbor. Laurie served for several years prior to entering government service with the Veterans Administration until her retirement in Phoenix, Arizona. She was a member of Mensa and several animal rights organizations. She enjoyed reading, painting, sculpting, and spending time with family. She was generous to a fault but enjoyed heated political discussion.She was preceded in death by her parents; and beloved nephew, Colin Butler.She is survived by her brothers, Greg, Dana, and Brian; nephews, Walt, Dillon, and Brandon; and nieces, Bonni, Lauren, Amanda, and Kathryn.
