It’s with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Larry Goldston, on January 18, 2022. The family will celebrate his life of 75 years at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 24, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. We invite you to view the live-streamed service on this page, sign his virtual guestbook, and download his memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing.On June 7, 1946, Larry was born to Arthur Gordon and Bobbie Sue Goldston in Wichita Falls, TX. The family moved to Eastland, TX in 1957 and years later to Idabel, OK where Larry graduated high school in 1964. He went to Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, TX, and later graduated from Hardin – Simmons and was in the Army ROTC. He was commissioned when he graduated in 1969 as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. He married Helen Ruth Howle on June 7, 1969, and they moved to Bad Kissingen, Germany for 18 months. When they returned home, he had orders to Vietnam and served there a year. The couple moved to Lubbock and he taught sixth grade at Rush Elementary. During this time Larry earned a master’s degree from Texas Tech in Education with certifications in Administration and Supervision. Three years later he became Vice-Principal at Rush Elementary. In 1973, his daughter Elizabeth was born.In 1977 he married Sharon Rafferty in Lubbock, TX. He worked for Porsche Cars of North America managing regional inventory. Later he was General Manager of Prestige Motors as well as top Porsche salesman (his favorite car). In 1979 his son, Jeffrey was born. In 1980 he started the West Texas Region of the Porsche Club of America and was the charter President. In 1986 he and Robert Marlett, a long-time friend established the 4th Calvary Regiment Re-enactment Group where he traveled and rode in the Inaugural Parade for George H.W. Bush in 1989. In 1989 he took the Series 7 Exam to become a stockbroker and worked for Prudential, Merrill Lynch, and later Morgan Stanley. In 1994 he completed a second master’s- Master of Arts in History at the University of Alabama Montgomery.In 2000 he married Joyce Henderson. He retired from the Armed Forces of the United States of America as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2006. Also that year he opened his own brokerage house, Wall Street Brokerage with Toni Robertson and retired from there in 2014.When he was not working, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family, hunting, riding horses, watching war movies, learning history, traveling, going to gun shows and Porsche club events. He was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church.Larry had the most wonderful personality and smile that you would never forget and was loved by so many. He was such a loving father, grandfather, brother, and son. He will be missed greatly.Survivors include his children, Elizabeth (Dusty) Davis of Plano, TX, Jeffrey (Kelli) Goldston of Lubbock, TX; grandchild, Presley Davis; sister, Carolyn Welcome of Arlington, TX and long time friend and former business partner, Toni Robertson of Lubbock.He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Goldston; father, Arthur Gordon Goldston; mother, Bobbie Sue Goldston.
