Following a courageous battle with cancer, Kimberly Elyse Dalby passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018.
Kim was born on April 15, 1977, to Hank and Carolyn (McAdams) Sebastian at BAMC, Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. Kim grew up in Midland, Texas, and was a 1995 graduate of Midland High School. She was an accomplished cheerleader attending Nationals and a member of Midland High Homecoming Court. Kim attended Texas Tech University, receiving her Bachelor in General Studies in 2000, and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Following graduation, she was a manager at Joe’s Crab Shack in Lubbock while she attended Covenant School of Nursing, where she earned her RN in 2003. In January 2004, Kim began her 14-year nursing career at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock as a staff RN and was promoted to Assistant Nurse Manager of the Adult Emergency Department in 2014. In her 14-year career at Covenant, she was known for her professionalism, and compassion for her patients, co-workers, and family, as well as her inspirational, faith-driven leadership. December 10, 2016, Kim earned her BSN from Lubbock Christian University. On April 5, 2018, Kim was the first nurse manager to be awarded the coveted Daisy Award by Covenant Medical Center for her excellence and expertise in nursing. Kim also got to bake her cake with Trisha Yearwood. Kim was everyone’s hero, our Wonder Woman, and unstoppable Prizefighter.
Kim is survived by her loving husband, Michael Paul Dalby; daughter, Ava Dalby; son, Andrew Dalby, all of Lubbock; mother, Carolyn Sebastian of Midland; father, Hank Sebastian, and wife, Aesuk of San Antonio; sister, Meredith Edwards, and husband, Jarrod; niece, London Edwards; nephew, Jett Edwards all of Lubbock; mother-in-law, Barbara Dalby of Lubbock; and extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Charles Bayouth, Dr. Ibrahim Shalaby, Dr. Timothy Miller, Dr. Kaisar Tarafdar, and the phenomenal nursing staff of Covenant Medical Center for their care and devotion to Kim.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 41 years on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 10 AM at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Lubbock, Texas.
