Kie Cameron Watkins was called home on October 4. 2021, after a lengthy illness.Kie was born in Muleshoe, TX to Kenneth and Elaine Watkins on November 2, 1955. He was a formidable high school football player and loved his Farwell Steers. He graduated from Farwell in 1974. He married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca Howard, on August 25, 1980, in Santa Fe, NM. Kie graduated from Texas Tech with a B.S. in Animal Science, The University of Texas with a B.A. in Radio, Television & Film, and received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech Law School. He served as an Assistant District Attorney in Hereford, Vega, and Waxahachie, before he and Becky moved back to Lubbock. Kie loved football, music, playing the guitar, history and was an avid Civil War buff.He is survived by his wife Becky, sister Kim (Bob) Zukis, sister-in-law Suzanne Cooper, brother-in-law Bowie Howard, and his aunt Coretta (Gaylon) Kerr. His nieces and nephews, Jamie D. Cooper, Micah Howard, Tasha Cathey, Ashley Varnell, and Morgan Howard were like his children. He has 19 great-nieces and nephews. Brooklynn Fontenot brought joy and happiness to his life and he was her “grandfather.”He’s preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and 2 brothers-in-law. The family will have a small, private service at Farwell Sunset Terrace on a later date.
