Ken Sharp went to be home with the Lord on Sunday, December 6, 2020, after a long and beautiful story. The service will be held on Thursday, December 10th at 4:00 at Lakeridge Chapel and Memorial Designers and will host a time of fellowship and remembrance after the service. The service will be live-streamed on this page, friends are invited to share memories and expressions of sympathy, for the family to cherish in the area below the obituary.Ken’s beautiful life story began in Boatman, OK on August 31, 1947. He was born at home to Orval and Violet Sharp. The son of a farmer, Ken grew up hoeing fields, feeding chickens, and milking cows. The Sharp family moved to Hart, TX in 1958 where he and his sister Carol became part of the fabric of the small community. Ken was active in track, basketball, and the FFA. In his senior year of high school, he was voted “Most Friendly Person” by the student body, but the best thing to happen to him was that he met the love of his life, Linda Bailey Sharp.Ken attended West Texas State University in Canyon, TX, but returned to Hart to begin his banking career at Farmers State Bank. In 1969, Ken and Linda were married and started their life together in Lubbock, TX. In 1973, they welcomed their daughter, Miranda Renee, into the world and moved to Levelland, TX. Ken continued his banking career at First Federal Savings and Loan and was heavily involved in the community. He was part of the Jaycee’s and the Chamber of Commerce Gold Coats.In 1981, the family moved back to Lubbock where Ken continued his finance career. In 1983, they gave birth to their son, Chris and completed their family. Ken battled the financial downfall of the 1980s and worked any job he could to ensure that his family wanted for nothing. For this, the family will be forever grateful.With the help of some friends, Ken became the President and Co-Founder of Sharp Mortgage Company in 1996. This was one of the proudest moments in his life and validated all of his hard work in the industry.Ken worked at many financial institutions for the next 24 years of his life with the final business being Southwest Bank in Lubbock. Ken loved his work and all of his work family. He was a mentor and confidant to many people, who consider him a friend and father figure. Ken was set to retire at the end of 2020 but sadly passed away in his bed, next to his wife of 51 years, on December 6, 2020.Ken enjoyed golfing, working in the yard, driving around, and capturing any audience that would run a “quick errand” with him. He was involved in several family businesses including; flipping and renting houses, crafting and raising cattle. He also loved going to estate sales and garage sales with his wife.He was a wonderful father, friend, mentor, and co-worker. He will be forever loved and missed.Survivors include his wife, Linda Sharp of 51 years; their children Miranda Sharp and Chris (Geleah) Sharp, one sister Carol Cottingham, and several other loving family members.Ken was preceded in death by his father, Orval Sharp, and his mother, Violet Sharp.
