Kelly Gene Vinson, age 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born March 12, 1955, in Lubbock, to Gene and Mary Frances. Kelly was a 1973 graduate of Cooper High School. He married Tracie Kinnison on May 7, 1983, in Lamesa TX. He worked for South Plains Electric Coop for 44 years and retired in May of 2019. Kelly enjoyed his job and took great pride in his work and what he did for others. Kelly loved life through simplicity; spending time with family and friends, eating shrimp, shooting his shotgun (dove hunting), being a lineman, riding on the tractor, and loving on his grandbabies. When you knew Kelly, you loved Kelly. He had the ability to put a deep stamp on your heart that would last a lifetime.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Tracie; his son, J. Michael of Midland; his daughter, Jessica (Reece) Creswell of Lubbock; grandchildren, Skylar Vinson, Remington Creswell, Rylee Creswell, and Ramsey Creswell. He is also survived by his brothers, Mike, Kyle, Brad (Darla), Alan (Christi), sister-in-law, Michal Douglas, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, his grandparents, aunts, and uncles; and brother-in-law, J. Kinnison.
The Vinson’s will host a visitation from 4:00-6:00 PM on Sunday evening, April 16, 2023, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A service to celebrate his life of 68 years is scheduled at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, followed by a graveside service at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodrow TX. The pallbearers are, Mike Vinson, Alan Vinson, Brad Vinson, Kyle Vinson, J. Vinson, Reece Creswell, Chace Vinson, Caleb Vinson, and Kirby Vinson.
