The family of Kelbey Danielle Walls will host a gathering of family and friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A service to celebrate her life of 22 years is scheduled at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 22, 2024, at First Church of the Nazarene, followed by a graveside service at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery.

Kelbey was born February 13, 2002, to Steve and Kayla Walls in dramatic fashion, beating the odds that the medical world said stood in her way.

Kelbey loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed reading Christian books and dreamed of writing one of her own one day. She loved watching Gilmore Girls and One Tree Hill, listening to Taylor Swift and she loved the challenge of a good jigsaw puzzle.

Kelbey came into her own during her high school years at KPA when she joined the theater program. She enjoyed acting in productions at school. Her favorite was the award-winning production of Abominable.

Upon graduating from South Plains College with her associate’s degree, she found her place working as the office manager for Jamie Stice, FNP. She loved her boss as well as serving each patient that walked through the doors.

Kelbey loved her family and friends fiercely. She loved her brother immeasurably, even though he loved to tease and annoy her, especially about her music. She loved Jude more than life itself and called him one of her best friends. She enjoyed getting to help him with his homework (specifically his math homework because no one else could figure it out).

Her infectious laugh and beautiful smile could brighten up any room. She didn’t love to have attention on herself but her personality, her love for Jesus, and her gorgeous curly red hair always made her stand out in a crowd. You were lucky if you had the pleasure of knowing her.

Kelbey is survived by parents, Steve, and Kayla Walls; sibling, Casey Walls; grandparents, Kenneth (Queda) Crutchfield; aunts, Shonda Crutchfield, Sherilyn Crutchfield, Brynne (Cody) Ross, Kymberley (Bruce) Maddox; cousins, Jude Crutchfield, Wyatt Ross, Kasyn Ross, Luke Maddox; and numerous other cherished family and friends.

She is preceded in death by grandparents, Richard and Donna Walls.

Kelbey passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.

Dear Kayla, Steve, Casey, Kymberley and all who love Kelbey—Many years ago God gave me a wonderful blessing early one morning as I drove onto the campus of Gordon College, where I served as editor. There by the pond in a light, misty rain, sat a mother goose with one of her wings spread out and several tiny goslings snuggled under her wing. I pulled my car over to the side and with tears running down my face sang the words of that comforting old hymn: Under His wings I am safely abiding; Though the night deepens and tempests are wild, Still I can trust Him—I know He will keep me; He has redeemed me and I am His child. Under His wings, under His wings, Who from His love can sever? Under His wings my soul shall abide, Safely abide forever. Under His wings, what a refuge in sorrow! Dear Walls family, I did not know Kelbey very well, but she visited with my girls while I did therapies at FHW. She also helped them when they did the salt booth alone and I never worried about them as long as Kelbey was there. I was shocked to hear of her passing and my heart grieves for you. I'm so happy, though that she loved the Lord (a fact I knew before I read her obit just by the way she acted and treated everyone) because that gives you comfort knowing you'll see her again. Dear Steve & Kayla and family - How we prayed for Kelbey when Kayla was carrying her and how we rejoiced when the miracle of her new little life manifested!! As I watched her grow into the beautiful young woman that she became, I continued to marvel at how God had answered our prayers... and I expected her life to truly matter for Jesus. Kelbey made a difference for Christ!! I feel so blessed that I was able to witness how God could use a young life to reflect Jesus the way that Kelbey did. And now, even after she has gone to be with the Lord, the legacy of her love for Jesus lives on and will always! What precious parents you have been and continue to be and what a blessing your whole family has been in my life. I love you all and I will continue to pray as you face this transition. Your Faith in God and His plans for us all will continue to grow as you seek first His Kingdom. God's grace IS sufficient and His power is made perfect in our weak moments. I had a health scare in December and contacted Jamie out of fear and kelbie answered and was the kindest most genuine person I’d ever spoken to. She legit talked Me off of a cliff and I had no idea she was struggling herself ….. she was so PURE and angelic to me… and didn’t make me feel crazy…. And when I met her in person the one time it was the same.. fun, genuine girl. When I went in January I wondered where she was - she was such a light!
