The world lost a shining star on November 27, 2023, as Joyce Moeller Cassell went to her heavenly home.
Joyce, born in Wichita Falls, Texas on May 8, 1937. She lived a life that touched the hearts of many and left an indelible impact on those who were fortunate enough to know her. First and foremost, she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She had a peace that surpassed all understanding that flowed from her strong relationship with Jesus. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Columbia, SC and most recently, Generations Church in Lubbock, Texas.
Joyce grew up around her family’s business, August’s Pies. As an adult she had a passion for creating beauty and transforming spaces. Joyce found her calling as an interior designer. Her eye for detail and artistic flair enchanted clients across the design industry. Her creative touch was evident in every project, bringing warmth, elegance, and comfort to the spaces she meticulously crafted.
Joyce was not only a strong Christian and talented professional but also a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Emory Cassell, and will forever be remembered as a loving partner who shared a lifetime of beautiful moments together.
A devoted mother, Joyce leaves behind her sons, Bill (Bonnie) Spacek and John (Lisa) Spacek, and her daughter, Elizabeth (Chris) Grisham and stepdaughters, Connie (Ed) Ainsworth, Chrissy (Bob) Godwin and Carrie (Lloyd) Hargrove. Her unconditional love and guidance shaped their lives and provided a strong foundation for their own families. Joyce’s sixteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren were truly the light of her life, and her love for them knew no bounds.
She is preceded in death by her parents, August and Wilma Moeller, a sister, Dorothy Estep and a brother, Tim Moeller.
Joyce Ann Cassell will forever be remembered as a Lover of the Lord and a beacon of love, creativity, and resilience. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched and the beautiful spaces she adorned. May she rest in eternal peace, and may her spirit continue to inspire and bring joy to all who remember her fondly.
To celebrate the extraordinary life Joyce led, a joyful Celebration of Life will be held at Generations Church, 5201 University Ave., Lubbock, Texas on December 16, 2023, at 10:00 AM.
Donations may be made to Generations Church, P.O. Box 6471, Lubbock, Texas 79413 in Joyce’s memory.
