Johnnie was born on August 30, 1948, the only child of the late Oscar (Buck) and Juanita (Nita) (Cargill) Ellis in Lubbock, TX. Johnnie and Linda were married April 5, 1968. Johnnie owned Lamesa Auto Supply with his father from 1969-2001. He then became the general manager of Keystone Automotive in Lubbock from 2001-present. Johnnie was passionate about sports and youth sports and his boys in particular. He coached football, basketball, and baseball in youth organizations from 1970-1994. He also had an affection for dogs, ie JJ and Kali the last 25 years. He never met a stranger and valued the friendships he made thru the years and activities.

Johnnie is survived by his wife, Linda Ellis, two sons, Johnnie Wayne Ellis of San Antonio, Andrew Thomas Ellis and wife Alesha of Plainview; and three grandchildren, Sarah Ellis, Shelby Ellis, and Kingston Ellis.

Linda and family - Sheryl and I pray God's comfort, peace, and strength will be with you. I have a lot of happy memories of times working with Johnnie. He wasn't just a co-worker but a great friend. I remember the day I interviewed Johnnie for Keystone and will never forgot the picture in my memories of Johnnie looking at me with his funny grin, without saying anything, but I read his mind........."Let's get on with it.....you know I'm the guy". And he was. I am so happy we made that decision. He was a joy to work with and had a positive impact in a lot of peoples lives, especially mine. He will be missed but not forgotten. Jerry and Sheryl

Linda, Johnny, Andy and Family,Lanelle and I are saddened to learn of Johnnie's passing. In remembering, we think back to our time as neighbors on South 7th street in Lamesa and our kids growing up. Johnnie and I have been friends since diapers, and I always respected his common sense . I am so glad that I was able to see you and Johnnie at the class reunion last September.
